Despite being in session only for a matter of weeks earlier this year, Virginia’s General Assembly did get a couple of bills passed. If you count 948 new laws as any small matter, that is. Thats the number of bills that survived both chambers and met the governor’s approval.
Most new laws will go into effect July 1. A total of 3,069 bills were introduced for the 2007 session, but only 1,553 passed both houses. That number was further whittled down by continuances and vetoes for the final count.
