While Davette was painting the vibrant floral mural on the side of Rae’s on Main Street, Phyllis Swindler took one look at Davette at work and decided she must have a quilt mural at Beach Spring Farms. From that inspiring moment, Sperryville now boasts two of Davette’s unforgettable and colorful murals. To see the quilts, drive to Hearthstone School, turn around and come back toward Sperryville. Those quilts will entice you to stop at one of Sperryville’s favorite retail stores.

Davette first came to Sperryville in 1976 to paint a house and moved here in 1980, bringing with her experience as a sign painter, calligrapher and artist. She immersed herself in art in Rappahannock and is now an accomplished artist whose
