Doug Grover and Joel Bacot each won their first race at last Saturday’s Soap box Derby of Culpeper before falling out in the later rounds.
The first to be eliminated was Grover, who lost in the second round of the highly competitive Stock Division that featured 59 drivers. Though he lost, his last trip down the hill was one he won’t soon forget. At the finish line, he clipped a hay bail sending him off the course and through a bundle of other hay bails. He escaped without injury and was all smiles.
