If you’re picking up the paper on June 30, there’s still time to get over to the Amissville Carnival! But you better hurry! Today is the last day for this annual extravaganza! Go to the Amissville Fire Hall and grab a hot dog, go for a ride or two and help support your local fire and rescue. How often can you have this much fun this close to home while supporting a good cause?

This also seems like a good time to remind you that we’re entering the fair/parade/camival time of year! I’ve never been to a fair I didn’t love. And I’ll definitely be heading down to the Rappahannock, Culpeper, Madison Agricultural Show that begins July 5 just south of Culpeper. You’ll see a lot of your neighbors there exhibiting their animals, baking, crafts and other projects. It’s a good reminder of how important farming is to our area, our lifestyle here and to feeding us all.
