The 2008 budget President Bush has proposed
to Congress includes significant cuts in
Medicare, including $1.14 billion in cuts to hospices over the next 5 years. Medicare pays for more than 80 percent of Hospice patients so this directly impacts the quality and availability of care they can provide.
Preventing these cuts is essential. Rate increases over the last few years have been significantly below inflation, and the rate has actually declined in many areas. For the counties that Hospice of the Rapidan serves which includes Rappahannock as well as Culpeper, Fauquier, Madison and Orange cuts to Hospice equates to a reduction of the people that Hospice can help.
Part of their strategy for dealing with this threat is a letter campaign to Congress. Attached are forms of messages urging support from our Congressman and Senators. Please send them by following the instructions below.
