Samuel E. Stephenson, Sr., 82, died Wednesday, February 13 in Bristol Nursing Home.
He was a past grand master of the Masons in Tennessee and past master of King Lodge No. 461. He had also held several other offices in the Order. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Hazel Walters Stephenson; two sons, Dr. Samuel E. Stephenson of Jacksonville, Fla. and George C. Stephenson of Sperryville; one foster daughter, Leona Mumpower of Bristol; one brother, James S. Stephenson of Dennison, Texas; six grandchildren, two of Sperryville, Chuck Stephenson, Sperryville and Old Dominion University, Norfolk and Peggy Stephenson, Sperryville and College of William and Mary, Williamsburg and three great grandchildren.
Akard Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
