The teachers at the old "Flint Hill school, who boarded at Rickett’s Hotel, gave their rooms to the Foxcroft girls. Roberta Spalding, a.former teacher at the time, recalls the experience: “We would leave our rooms...and the girls would just take over the hotel. They did a lot of foolish things like young girls do.” For example, “they once bought a baby pig and put it in someone’s bed.”
“The girls roamed around Flint Hill and everyone loved them,” Spalding added. “The kids fixed them pink lemonade and the teachers put on a play for them at the Flint Hill school. We loved to have a play for them; they were such a good audience.”
Mrs. D. Lyle Miller, who owns a home in Gid Brown Hollow, taught at the Flint Hill school from 1931 to 1940. She described the Foxcroft girls’ ride into Flint Hill as the “event of the sea
