A valuable “checkerboard” pattern quilt will also be given away at the Sock Hop. The quilt has been made by Betty Bennett’s mother for a fundraiser for the elementary school. The SPTA is hoping to raise at least $300.00 from donations towards winning the quilt. Edie Clark, a SPTA member, will be heading up the drive for funds and will be distributing a contribution form to students next week. Funds from the quilt donations, as well as the Sock Hop, will be used for SPTA projects.
NVCC Manassas
offers scholarships
Northern Virginia Community College Manassas campus has five $200 scholarships available through the Jeff Carroll Memorial Fund to be awarded for the spring quarter. The funds can be used for tuition, books or supplies.
Both new and continuing students are eligible and new students are encouraged to apply. Applicants will be evaluated by financial need and will be required to write a brief explanation of their educational and career goals and their need for the scholarship.
Application materials and other in-. formation are available from the financial aid office at the Manassas campus, 368-0184, extension 233. Deadline for applications is March 13.
