that the advocates of abortion back off from referring to themselves as “proabortionists”? Is it because even they sense that there is perhaps something just a little shameful about what they want the freedom to do?
The common sense of those of us who have tried to keep up with what is going on tells us that the pro-abortionist wants the freedom to snuff out the life of any unborn child whose birth into the world will upset somebody’s applecart. Still, all sorts of purely rational reasons have been put forth to justify the practice of abortion. It is overlooked that all of us are poor human critters, and not very bright; and therefore that it is not very sensible to jettison those bits and pieces of wisdom that we have inherited from the past. In our age we are the smartest people the ages have ever produced, but we are certainly not very wise.
Something of this sort has been seeping into the public consciousness quite recently. It is no longer quite so smart and respectable to be pro-abortion and babble out its rationale. So what happens?
