Sperryville Fire Department Lieutenant Richie Burke said the call was received around 2 p.m., and a Sperryville unit was at the scene within three minutes. “The best we can determine, the fire was electrical and it started behind the stove in the kitchen,” Burke said. Damage to the home is estimated at $30,000. Other units responding were the Sperryville Rescue Squad, Washington, Flint I Hill, Castleton and Salem fire departments. Chester Gap Fire De; partment members, Hubie and Burt Gilkey, also responded.
