To the editor:
The headline of your article reporting on the joint hearing of Oct. 7, “Zoning favored; ordinance debated,” describes in a nutshell not only the meeting itself but also the reaction in the county regarding the proposed ordinance ever since this apple of discord was thrown into our midst by the planning commission over a year ago.
I know of no one in the county who is opposed to reasonable zoning here; I know of many people who are opposed to this proposed ordinance as. being unreasonable and fatally flawed, including the 1,054 residents who signed the RDAC petition presented to the planning commission and board of supervisors to express their opposition to it.
Even those speakers on Oct. 7 who seemed inclined toward adoption of the ordinance spoke of the problems they have with the 201page document in its present form; the “quirks” of Mr. Dennis; the “splinters” of Mr. Clark; the “reservations” of Mr. Reynolds; the potential for cronyism and favoritism in issuing or denying permits as ex
