Emily F. Fine ham

Mrs. Emily Frances Fincham, 83, of Washington, died on Oct. 9 at Oak Springs of Warrenton after a long illness. She was the daughter of the late Rebecca and Will Jenkins and a native of Madison County. She was the widow of James Albert Fincham and a member of Washington Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, James A. Fincham, of Oxon Hill, Md.; four daughters, Mrs. Helen Gray, of Washington, Mrs. Ada Jenkins, of Orange, Mrs. Marie Miller, of Alexandria, and Mrs. Honeybee Rishell, of Baltimore, Md.; three stepsons, Herbert Fincham, of Front Royal, Robert Fincham and Davis Fincham, both of Aroda; two granddaughters whom she raised, Mrs. Mary McFarland, of Washington, and Mrs. Brenda Troth, of Stafford; 18 other grandchildren; 17 greatgrandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Louise Alther, of Sperryville; two brothers, Tom Jenkins and Howard Jenkins, both of Culpeper; and a number of nieces and nephews.

A funeral was held on Oct. 12 at GeestJohnson Funeral Home in Culpeper. The Rev. John Burke officated. Interment was in Washington Masonic Cemetery.

Geest-Johnson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Democrats meet

On Oct. 12, 75 Democrats from Rappahannock and neighboring counties gathered at the home of Dr. and Mrs. Werner Krebser in Huntly for their annual Democratic Fall fundraising party.

A committee including Diane Bruce, Douglas Baumgardner and Rachel Grimsley organized donations of many varieties of food and drink for the event. Proceeds from the party will be used for the Democratic Committee’s local expenses as well as for contributions to the campaigns of Gerald Baliles, Douglas Wilder and Mary Sue Terry', the Democratic candidates for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general, respectively.

Henry Lee Carter, of Orange, chairman of the 7th District Democratic Committee, spoke briefly on the coming election.
