School opened its month with 174 of its student having 100% attendance records. The fifth and seventh graders tied for the top honors with 36 students each.
The ladies of the Washington Town Council began a program of economy in the meeting Tuesday night, Oct. 10, by discontinuing the services of the town attorney, a policeman and the caretaker for the fire house.
They voted approval to investigate the possibility of having a charge for town fire hydrants removed from the town’s expense account.
Then the ladies voted to cancel their $2-a-month salary for themselves but to allow $5 a month for expenses to the mayor and clerk.
