It is fitting and proper that today’s Culpeper Minute Men, SAR, many of whom have served their home and country, mark the final resting place of this patriot as a reminder of the great debt owed to him and all others who opposed despotism and tyranny 200 years ago. Vigilance in protecting liberty, regardless of the sacrifices that may be demanded, must continue.

Oktoberfest
The Parent-Teacher Organization of St. John School, Warrenton, has scheduled their Fifth Annual Oktoberfest celebration for Oct. 18 and 19, to be held at the Parish Hall on Winchester Street.
The doors will be open at 10 a.m. each day and will close at 8 p.m. on Friday and at the conclusion of the crafts auction that starts at 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Special offerings this year include professional quality handcrafted gifts; a delightful Christmas shop; a Country Cupboard featuring homemade jellies, preserves and baked goods.
Again this year, excellent German cuisine will be served each day. Bratwurst, sauerkraut and fried potatoes, prepared by a professional chef and his staff, as well as Selections from the dessert table, wifi be available.
Activities are planned throughout the day, including games for all ages, a “Moonwalk” for children on Friday afternoon and a hot-air balloon demonstration on Saturday. Special prizes to be given this year are a “Dream Cruise” vacation worth $2,500 and a ride in a hot air balloon valued at $200. There is no charge for admission.
