• Announced the appointment of James Thomasson to the architectural review board replacing Charles Eldred. Eldred resigned after his appointment to the town board of zoning appeals.
• Received a request from the Washington Business Council to have a clearer Washington highway sign. The business council is reforming after a period of inactivity. Kramer will ask the highway department about the sign.
“I was glad to see the people at the meeting and to see them get involved,” said Willis, after the meeting. “I encourage more people to come to council meetings and help the town.” to include three guest rooms in their 1 house on Main and Piedmont ! streets. The Thomassons also said ( they plan to move their “Country Heritage Antiques and Crafts” shop to the bottom floor of the house in a year.
James Thomasson said he had had the property perked for its own septic field instead of continuing to share a field, and he presented plans for parking spaces. He said there will be two guest rooms for a while after the shop is moved because he and his wife will keep an apartment for themselves.
Wickens asked if the permit could be approved for as long as the Thomassons own the house.
“I suspect that we can’t do that, but we could put a time limit on the permit and they’d have to renew it,” said Kramer.
The permit was approved with the conditions that not more than eight people at a time stay in the house, that seven off-street parking spaces be provided and that the permit be renewed in 10 years.
