Circus in Flint Hill

A clown contest will be among the featured attractions at the Roberts Bros. Circus, which will visit Flint Hill on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The circus will offer two performances at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. at the Flint Hill Fire Department’s carnival grounds. The clown contest will be judged at the 7:30 show. Contestants may be any age — the only requirement is homemade attire. Face paints may be used. There will be first, second and third prizes, and the winner may help the circus clown during the evening show. Advance tickets are available at Settle’s Grocery, Flint Hill Store, Hillsdale Grocery, B & B Servicenter and from members of the Flint Hill VFD.

Woman's Club to meet

The Rappahannock Woman’s Club will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Sharon Ferrence near Amissville. All members are urged to attend. A special program and a tea are planned for the meeting. Anyone interested in learning more about the club please contact club president Barbara Burke at 987-8058.

Democratic cocktail/buffet

The Rappahannock County Democratic Committee will host a fund-raiser cocktail/buffet at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Baumgardner, Ginger Hill, Washington on Rt. 211, 1-1/4 miles west of Washington Post Office on Sunday, Sept. 25 from 5 to 7 p.m. A $10 donation is requested and the public is invited.
