In 1949, F. T. and Reynolds Memorial purchased the interest in the parsonage held by the other two churches. By 1963, the parsonage was determined to be in such disrepair that it could not be fixed, and land was donated by C. E. Johnson Jr. next to the Reynolds Memorial building in Sperryville, on which a new parsonage was built. The home was built by George W. Hawkins, whose grandfather, also George W. Hawkins, had built the present F. T. Baptist Church.
In 1978 the church, which still had a loyal congregation, celebrated its bicentennial.
This year, according to Walter Kilby, the chairman of the financial committee, “has been an extremely busy and eventful year for our congregation.” During the year a new addition has been constructed, which contains a nursery, restrooms, a kitchen, and a large social and Sunday School meeting room.
Most of the labor and equipment used in the improvements, Mr. Kilby said, have been contributed by members of the church. “As a result,” he said, “we have grown closer as a congregation.”
