First Brownie troop meeting
Brownie Troop 929 will hold its first meeting on Monday, Sept. 19 directly after school in the Rappahannock Elementary School cafeteria until 4:45 p.m. All returning Brownies and any girl in grades firstthird of ages six to eight wishing to join are urged to attend. Bus safety observed
The RCES PTA will observe Bus Safety Week Sept. 19-23. A safety awareness program with movies, speakers and refreshments will be held in the gym on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The PTA's “Safety First” fund-raiser will begin Sept, 23 and last until Oct. 28. The fundraiser will go toward the completion of a bus communication system for all county school buses.
Basket workshop at Middle St.
A basketweaving workshop will be held at Middle Street Gallery in September. The three-session class will be devoted to completing a bushel-style basket with wild grapevine handles and reed. Twinning and plain weave will be presented. Beginners and advanced. Fee is $48 and includes all materials. The class wil.l run Tuesday evenings, 7-9:30 p.m. Sept. 20 and 27 and Oct. 4. 'Cinderella'
The movie Cinderella will play at the Gay Street Theater on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 18 at 7:30 p.m. “Disney’s all-time favorite animated classic is back to win the hearts of a whole new generation of filmgoers,” a spokesman for RAAC said. The movie is rated G. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
