to avoid problems:
•Do not enter the silo for three or four days after filling without ventilating the silo first. This is done by running the blower for at least 20 minutes. This precaution should be taken no matter how long the silage has been stored.
•The silo chute door closest to the level of the silage should be open. This allows the gas to escape when the blower is running. Silo feed rooms should be ventilated by use of windows and fans.
•Never enter a silo without someone on the outside to assist you. Wear an approved self-contained breathing apparatus and attach a life-long to someone outside.
