Caro Borden
Caro Turner Borden, 90, died Sept. 10 at Piedmont Health Care Center in Charlottesville of complications resulting from a broken hip which she had suffered in a fall several weeks ago.
Mrs. Borden was born in Roanoke December 16, 1897 and moved to Washington, D.C. with her family in 1917 from Flint Hill. She was the thfrd of six siblings.
In the 1930’s she went to work for the old Civil Service Commission from which she retired in a supervisory position in the mid 1950’s. Mrs. Borden lived in the Cleveland Park area of Washington, D.C. where she owned property until the 1960’s. She resided in Reston from the late 1960’s until 1985 when she became a resident of Piedmont Health Care Center.
Mrs. Borden was a member of he Gibson Island Club, Maryland from the 1940’s until the mid 1980’s.
There are no immediate survivors. She is survived by four nephews, William H. Stokes Jr., Reston, Turner Stokes, Silver Spring, Md. and Henry A. Turner, New Haven, Cohn.; and a number of other nephews, nieces, great nephews and nieces and three great, great nieces.
Services will be held at Joseph Gawler and Sons, 5130 Wisconsin Avenue, Washington, D.C. on Thursday, Sept. 15 at 3 p.m.
