A public hearing by the county Planning Commission on the application by the Nationwide Pentecostal Evangelistic Association to add a 30site campground and a dormitory for up to 112 people to their property near Castleton became a non-event when the planners cancelled the hearing because the applicant owns only 9.05 acres, not the 20 acres needed to apply under the provision in the zoning ordinance for “Camps and Recreation Grounds, Lodges and Resorts.”
Rev. Lindsey Savage said he applied under this provision because it was the only one that would allow him to have both the campground and the dormitory and that he had not understood that a minimum of 20 acres was required.
The decision of the planners to table the application rather than recommend denial left open the opportunity for the NPEA to apply under
