Settles have
daughter
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Lee Settle of Huntsville, Ala. are proud to announce the birth of a daughter Jenna Lee, born on March 30.
Grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Stanley F. Settle of Amissville and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford M. Aldrich of Weed, California, formerly of Warrenton.
Dickey Ridge
center reopens
Superintendent J.W. Wade of Shenandoah National Park announced that Dickey Ridge Visitor Center, near Front Royal, Virginia opened for the season on March 23.
Closed since last November, the visitor center, at mile 4.6 on the Skyline Drive, will be open daily, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Byrd Visitor Center, at Big Meadows, mile 51, has been open all year.
The park superintendent also announced the expansion of the park’s environmental education program. In announcing this effort Superintendent Wade said, “We feel that the Park can increase its efforts to serve the local community, and that students and other citizens in the local area can take better advantage of the programs in their park.”
Beginning in April, more programs will be offered in the Park on park resources, wildlife, history and management programs. A special effort will be made to inform the public on Park’s gypsy moth management activities, with programs both in and out of the Park.
