Vernon Scott
D. Vernon Scott, 61, of Castleton, died April 21 at the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville.
He was born August 11, 1928 in Castleton, the son of Clarence Scott and the late Bertie Compton Scott.
Mr. Scott was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy with the rank SN. He was a 1950 graduate of the Coyne Electrical and Radio School in Chicago, II. Mr. Scott had previously operated a radio and television shop in Northern Virginia and an automobile business (Scott’s Motor Company) in Culpeper. He retired in 1986 and loved to travel.
In addition to his father, he is survived by his wife, Mrs. Dorothy A. Scott of Castleton; three sons, L. Ray Scott of Woodville, Brian Scott of Culpeper and Steve Scott of Amissville and one daughter, Marilynn Scott of Castleton.
Mr. Scott is also survived by four brohters, Eulis Scott, Marion Scott and Ray Scott, all of Culpeper and John Scott of Front Royal; two sisters, Mrs. Gail Doggett and Mrs. Joan Roberts, both of Culpeper and two grandsons, Ted Scott and Dustin Scott.
A masonic service was held April 23 at Culpeper Funeral Home. Funeral services were held April 24 at the Culpeper Funeral Home with the Reverend Thomas Darling officiating. Interment was in Washington Masonic Cemetery with military honors.
