A total of 320 children, ages
5 through 9, received the German measles vaccine at the clinic held Monday at Rappahannock County Elementary School. Of these, 35 were pre-school children and the others were first through third grades. This was 78 percent of the children eligible. A make-up clinic will in all probability be held at a later date which will be announced. This will include those who were eligible but could not participate because of conflicting inoculations, illness, etc.

The Town of Washington,
the county seat of Rappahannock County, has been designated as a historic district by the Virginia Historic Landmarks Commission. Washington, at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, is officially described as “a well-preserved nineteenth century courthouse town with a fine collection of public, commercial and domestic architecture typical of the region.” Its significance stretches beyond the founding of Rappahannock County, in 1833.
