Potomac Edison also provides * services for commercial and industrial customers and for builders and electrical contractors. Energy and technical audits can be conducted by customer service representatives and engineers. These surveys of energy use can help cut energy bills and make the business more profitable through the use of new electrotechnologies.

Builders rely on Potomac Edison for Miss Utility, a toll-free number that handles requests for locating underground cable and electrical equipment. Potomac Edison also provides free training programs for electrical contractors on updates in the National Electric Code.

Schools can use Potomac Edison as a great resource for teaching children about electrical safety and how electricity is made and distributed. Films, videos, educational literature and classroom speakers are all resources that teachers can use at no charge. “Our speakers bureau members are also available for service organizations and other group meetings. Speakers can present a variety of programs to fit a variety of needs,” Ms. Shoop said.

Potomac Edison has also extended its hours to provide greater service to all customers. Customer Service representatives are now available from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. And the utility recently added a toll-free telephone number: 1 (800) 654-3317.
