April 22-28 is National Consum, ers Week and Potomac Edison marks the occasion by reminding its customers of the many services available to them free of charge, according to information officer . Cyndi Shoop.

Customers can contact Potomac Edison representatives to receive valuable information on Energy Assistance Programs, which help customers pay their electric bills during the winter heating season. Customers may also want to sign up for the , Average Payment Plan which levels ■ out payments over 12 months to help make bill paying easier. ■ WRAP, or Weatherization Resi- ’ dential Assistance Program, helps low income customers weatherize their homes. Potomac Edison and local assistance agencies provide funds for this program, which adds such ' energy-saving measures as insulation, water heater jackets, electrical . outlet draft seals, door sweeps and ‘' low flow showerheads.

Elderly customers have been assisted by Potomac Edison employees who participate in the Gatekeeper Program. Employees have been trained to use their eyes and ears to identify older people who may be in potential trouble. PE has worked in partnership with local agencies on aging to assist these people. PE also provides special life-support system and third-party notification plans which work toward helping elderly customers with their special needs.
