March is the Music Educator’s National Conference Making Music in Our Schools Month.
It is a time when music education becomes the focus of students, teachers, parents, and community members everywhere, in an effort to raise awareness of the importance of music education. Music in Our Schools Month (MIOSM) encourages students to develop a sense of pride in their school music programs and in their own musical achievements.
The Rappahannock Elementary School chorus kicked off the month on March 5 by participating in the world’s largest concert. The WLC (World’s Largest Concert) is a national PBS broadcast that unites voices of millions of children.
The Rappahannock High School band performed a pre-festival concert and received excellent ratings from the District Band Festival.
The Rappahannock High School talent show will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 13. Donations will go toward a sound system for the high school auditorium.
The Rappahannock High School choir will perform a “Mostly Webber” concert at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18. With the exception of a few pieces from “Les Miserables,” all of the selections are taken from Andrew Lloyd Webber’s famous musicals: “Evita,” “Jesus Christ Super
