The Salem Ruritan Club which sponsors an auction each year to benefit community services will be held Friday, March 20. The Salem Fire and Rescue Auxiliary will provide food beginning at 5 p.m. with the sale starting at 6:30 p.m. Anyone with donations which are greatly needed for the sale may call 703-8254554.
Birthday wishes go out this week to Jennifer Peregory, who will be celebrating her fifth on Saturday.

is engaged
Bebe McGowan of Sperryville and James D. Gaunt III of Madison announce their engagement.
The bride is the daughter of Mrs. R.J. Gorday of Fitzgerald, Ga. and James D. McGowan of Stone Mountain, Ga.
The groom is the son of the late Rowena Kirkpatrick of Warrenton and the late James D. Gaunt of Madison.
Miss McGowan is a graduate of Fitzgerald High School and attended Georgia College at Milledgeville and Valdosta State College in Georgia. She is an account representative for Kelly Temporary Services in Culpeper.
Mr. Gaunt is a graduate of William Monroe High School and attended the University of Virginia and the Virginia Art Institute. He is a sales associate for musical instruments at Cinema Plus in Orange. Mr. Gaunt is also a guitarist in clubs and at musical events in central Virginia.
The wedding will be held May 1 in Washington.
