Jerry Thomas interviewed his great-grandmother, who was on the girls’ basketball team at her school in Tazewell, Va. She was among 50 students crammed into a one-room building. Jerry and Adam Rogers wrote the story together after Jerry’s interview.
Crystal Grigsby interviewed 60year-old Minor Dodson, who was born and raised in Rappahannock. “They did not have a lot of things in their classrooms as we do today, but their subjects were pretty much the same as ours, such as spelling, math, health, English, geography and history.”
