Steinshouser performed her onewoman show, “Willa Cather Speaks.”

Faculty member Janet Jones said that she thoroughly enjoyed the conference. It was an opportunity for teachers to compare notes and examine different teaching methods. Ms. Jones was questioned about the success of having students role-play characters from their reading and literature assignments. This week members of her seventh grade English class each posed as their favorite character from “Ivanhoe.” Ms. Jones commented that with assignments requiring students to act out portions of the literature that they read, the students had a better understanding of the works. Watching the class role-play characters from “Ivanhoe,” it was evident that the students enjoyed the book and the assignment.
