To the Editor;
We thought the arrogance of your March 5 editorial on parental notification of abortion was amazing. What is the basis for your presumption that the majority of families cannot communicate with their teenage daughters? Shouldn’t we give them the benefit of the doubt? Are you aware that a school nurse cannot even give a child an Aspirin without written permission from their parents? Is abortion some kind of special case? There is lots of precedent for parental notification.

To the Editor.
I was distressed to hear from the Rappahannock Animal Welfare Lei^ue that you are not consistent about publishing the Pet of the Week photo. You are generally so good about public affairs and I encourage you to make a greater effort to keep this record up to the highest standard by publishing the photo every week.
It has been demonstrated that the photo is a major factor in the adoption of pets from the shelter. In addition it is a good reminder to us all of the shelter’s existence and needs.
Thank you for making sure we can see the Pet of the Week every week.
