For at least as long as I have covered School Board meetings the high school students, through Jami Gillis, last year’s School Board Student Representative, have expressed their hope that a new track facility could somehow be constructed. Jami’s monthly report has consistently closed with the simple appeal, “We want a track!”
Thanks to the efforts of Mary Mochary, there is now at least the possibility that a new track and field facility can become a reality. Mary has been working with Assistant Superintendent of Schools Mary Ann Biggs and School Board Member Rosa Crocker to create a grass-roots organization that can attract volunteers and raise the funds necessary to create a state-ofthe-art facility.
