Meredith Gorfein, Democratic challenger for the 31st District Virginia House of Delegates seat, spoke on the issues of growth and land conservation in front of the Rappahannock County Courthouse on Oct. 1.
Ms. Gorfein, who is continuing her Friday speeches at various locations throughout the 31st District, says that she is still standing, speaking and researching as we head into October. “I have me eye on the second of November,” says Gorfein.
Not to be outdone by her opponent, Republican Delegate Jay Katzen, Ms. Gorfein announced that she wishes to donate a cherry tree which she would like to see planted near the recently donated bust of George Washington. “I would like to celebrate this last election of the century by giving a gift to the town of Washington and Rappahannock County,” said Ms. Gorfein.
Ms. Gorfein thinks that George Washington, if he were alive today, would be “dismayed” at uncontrolled growth being experienced in counties like Loudoun and Prince William.
