Rabies clinic scheduled

A rabies clinic will be held Saturday, Oct. 16 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Rappahannock Animal Shelter located at the county landfill. Cost is $10 per shot and all proceeds will benefit Rappahannock Animal Welfare League. For more information call 937-3336 or 937-3283.

Autumn tennis instruction

Anyone interested in tennis lessons should contact Hunt Harris at the Ragged Mountain Resource Center, 987-3366. He will be offering a limited number of sessions this autumn for adults as well as youth on all levels (beginner through advanced competition). There is a sliding-scale fee system based on the number of participants in a group, and individual instruction is also available.

Girls softball clinic set

Rappahannock Girls Little League Softball Coaches Susan Payne and Paul Gall will be conducting a fall softball program which will consist of fundamental skill development and drills for girls born from Aug. 1, 1987 to July 31, 1993.

The clinic will be held four consecutive Saturdays, Oct. 9, 16, 23 and 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. behind the Mountainside Market in Sperryville. Anyone with questions should call Paul Gall evenings, 937-5048, daytime 540-477-6227 or Susan Payne, 987-8090, evenings.

Meditation program offered

A meditation program will be offered at the Rappahannock Healing Arts Center on Thursdays beginning Oct. 14. Led by Joe Johnson, an experienced meditator, the class will be held from 7 to 8 p.m. For information call after 6 p.m., 923-4614.

Chicken dinner, live music planned

The Chester Gap Volunteer Fire & Rescue Company will be having a chicken barbecue and live country music benefit on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 5 to 8 p.m. Cost will be $6 for adults; $3 for children and those three and under can eat for free. All proceeds will go toward the new truck fund.
