near Washington

21 year-old Jaw Abulhasan of Arlington, Va. was injured in an accident on U.S. 211 west of the town of Washington shortly before noon on Oct. 3. The driver hit some loose gravel on the highway, lost control and overturned. He has been charged with reckless driving. Damage to his 1999 Yamaha motorcycle was estimated at $2000.

. Another one-vehicle acci* dent occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on Sept. 26 on U.S. 211 near Route 667 west of Sperryville. Theodore Follin, 75, of Luray ran off the road to avoid another vehicle that had crossed the center line in a curve. Follin lost control of his 1991 Dodge pickup anc" hit an embankment. Damae to the truck was estimated $8000. Follin was injured the accident.

The county Building Office had a slow month for the period running Aug. 22 through Sept. 2 as far as issuing per- w mits. For the month, the office issued six new home permits, &

four addition/remodel/renovaf. fJ; tion permits, one neW;. shed/barn/garag permit, on*' permit for the county dump-f ster site, one permit to replace an existing porch, one permit for a deck and four renewal permits.

In addition, the Building Office reviewed 14 sets of plans, had 165 scheduled inspections, eight walk-in consultations and five scheduled consultations.
