Also passing unanimously was the Resolution calling for affordable quality health care for all Americans regardless of age. This Resolution supported allowing all Americans to buy into the federal health insurance programs with financial assistance available from the State and Federal governments for those who could not otherwise afford health care coverage.

Resolutions also passed calling for the federal government to adopt transportation and environmental policies which discourage the profusion of sprawl into Suburban and rural areas; the elimination of soft money from all federal elections because it taints the campaign process, compromises the integrity of our government, and fosters general cynicism among the people; and the repeal of the federal legislation which deprives local governments and zoning authorities of their right to determine whether and where telecommunications towers shall be placed in their jurisdictions.

The final Resolution which passed unanimously called for the Democratic Party to change the Presidential selection process to a Primary system and to set the date of the Democratic Presidential Primary in Virginia earlier and on the same date as the Republican Primary in order that Virginia democrats have a greater voice in the election of our Presidential nominee.

On May 20, the 10th Congressional District Convention will convene at the Centreville High School and Rappahannock’s Delegates and the Resolutions passed by the Caucus will be heard. The final step for the Delegates is the Democratic State Convention in Norfolk on June 2 and 3.
