This past week judges reached their final decision on the essay contest, Thinking About Rappahannock: Today and Tomorrow.
There were two age groups: one for 18 and over and one for under 18.
Barbara Sherwood of Washington won the $500 prize for the over 18 category and Steven Clark, age 16 won the $400.
