Jack Raines Jr. Principal of Rappahannock County High School has recently attended the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development Annual Conference in New Orleans, La. Mr. Raines was invited to introduce and participate in the Saturday afternoon presentation by Dr. Harry Wong, renowned teacher trainer and professional development expert from San Francisco, Calif.
Mr. Raines began his association with Dr. Wong in the fall of 1997. Raines used Dr. Wong’s video series “The Effective Teacher” and his book, “The First Days of School” as part of teacher workshops at the beginning of the 1997 school year. Dr. Wong and his wife and co-author, Rosemay, visited the school that fall and a friendship developed.
Mr. Raines was invited to attend a Leadership Conference with the Wong’s for Principals and Educators of Urban Schools in Atlanta prior to the ASCD Conference to present how he used the series and continues to use the “The Effective Teacher” as ongoing
