Questions were raised about earlier investigations and conclusions, and Mayor Willis suggested taking advantage of PEC’s offer for assistance in solutionseeking. He forwarded a motion to spend up to $1000 to provide funding for Resource International engineers to work with PEC engineers, and the motion carried. Charlie Tompkins reminded the council and the audience that the Wastewater Study Committee had conducted its investigations as instructed— with discretion—and suggested that many facts had not been revealed for that reason. He raised the prospect that any new study would likely reach the same results as the Committee had—that a town-wide solution was needed.
Draft budget gets OK
Town Treasurer Elaine Viguerie presented the draft budget for Fiscal Year 2000-2001. The proposed budget shows income and expenditures of $274,050.00, as compared with current year figures of $244,800, though projected actual income for the year ending 6/30/00 is $304,122.28, and projected expenditures for the same period are $174,951.12.
The council okayed the draft, and a public hearing on the budget will be held at the council’s May meeting.
