The 22nd annual Fodderstack Race was held on Saturday, April 15. Of the 242 people who registered, 219 ran or walked the race despite the drizzle and threat of rain.

In addition to Virginia, states represented were Maryland, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Vermont, Maine, Ohio, Indiana and Florida as well as D.C.

The Eva Smith Memorial is given to the first female and first male finishers, who are full-time residents of Rappahannock. This year’s winners were Susannah McNear Barnes (for the fourth time) and Michael Wilcox.

Lowell Owsley, who placed second in his age group, 70 and over, is from Jeffersonton and has run in all 22 Fodderstack races.

A first! The Philip Strange family are not only wonderful competitors, but winners, all took home a mug. Sisters took home two of the 12 and under mugs.
