Stanley resident ' Gerald Earnest “Slim” Whitley, 89, of Stanley died on Friday, April 7 at Page Hospital in Luray. ‘ He was bom on July 30, 1910 in Missouri and was a son of the late Charles Napoleon and Willa Eva Thompson Whitley. , Mr. Whitley lived in the Washington, D.C. area from 1933-1975 and retired from Acacia Life Insurance Company as director of personnel.
He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Stanley and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. ~ On March 29, 1947, he married the former Shirley Shuff, who survives. " Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, John C. \yhitley of Amissville; a daughter, Donna WhitleySmith of Luray; two granddaughters and a step-grandson.
Memorial services were conducted on Monday, April 10 at the Grace Lutheran Church by the Rev. Sharon Wiggins. Rurial was in the Graves
