Violets
Apprentice to a purple’s dreams delight ; Appears without a warning . . . might One day when softened soils respond • A downward glance alight \ Upon it’s happy face a bond Reflecting heaven’s sight. \
Those purple faces mingled with the green Desired to disappear would seem ! To hide among the winter’s scruff. ; But heart shaped leaves that want to scream That winter’s colds had quite enough And leave it as a dream.
While on bended knees to gather one by one, I feel the warmth of an early sun Caress my skin and steal a kiss. And when I find I’m finally done A prayer begins to form like this I find that grateful moment fun.
