Pullen invited us in and speculated with us about where the house might be but admitted he did not know. However, he directed us to Thomas R. Taylor. “He’s a 60-year-old man who has lived here all his life so he might know, “ Ray said. (He did not know that I was 64). We drove to the Taylor farm. Mr. Taylor was already outside and greeted us as we drove up.

“Yes,” he did know where it was located but said the house was no longer standing. “It was a brick house so all that’s left is a pile of bricks,” he said. He told us how to get there and, after a pleasant chat, we said goodbye to Mr. Taylor and sped directly to our goal. Even if it was just “a pile of bricks,” it marked the place where my ancestors had lived.
