I really appreciated the
“Up in the Hollow” article by Ben Jones from March 7. I remember back when I was a young man and the nation was going through the Nixon scandal. I could not understand why many Republicans were still defending Nixon even after the Watergate tapes were revealed.
I see nothing wrong with Democrats being proud to be Democrats or Republicans being proud to be Republicans. However, neither party is well served if we become blind followers of the blind.
I think the country would be well served if we could get away from the “extreme partisanship” that seems to have plagued us in recent times. I really appreciate President Bush for sounding the clarion call for bipartisanship. It is obvious that there are differences that people have that can never be reconciled.
