Sounds like, we need to expand!
So that’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to take in the area between the sidewalk and the current lasagna gardens and plant melons, watermelons and flowers. The Golden Berries will go into ad' area at the bottom of the hill because — get this — those plants want poor soil. I can handle that right now.
I’m also going to expand all current planting areas — and thereby reduce the area of lawn that I have to cut. So I should be OK. Come August, I’m going to be up to my ears in watermelons, cantaloupes, Alpine strawberries, and glorious, bountiful, varied flowers.
So you can see why I’m really looking forward to Derby Day this year. I’m thinking that if all these plants are ready on that one day, I’m going to have to take some time off to get them into the ground.
Let’s be optimists ... mark me “out” that whole week, boss. I’ve got planting to do.
