The Fauquier Evening Herb Society had its formative meeting Feb. 19 in Marshall. The group plans to meet at the Marshall Community Center on the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. Anyone interested in the culinary, medicinal, folkloric, aromatherapy and craft uses of herbs is invited to join.
Marshall residents Jackie Hitchcock and her mother, Marylu Zurbuchen, are the founders. With 15 men and women attending the first meeting, they are off to a good start.
Zurbuchen, a life-long gardener, started an herb guild in her previous home of Homestead, Fla. It grew to more than 60 members in just two years.
