of High Country Gardens, these perennial plants are guaranteed to lure hummingbirds from miles around.
• Agastache “Desert Sunrise” (TM) boasts large flower spikes that hummingbirds find irresistible. The small, cone-shaped flowers are a mixture of soft oranges, pinks and lavenders. “Desert Sunrise” blooms continuously from late summer through fall in USDA hardiness zones 5-10. It’s a tough plant that can survive drought and heat.
• Agastache aurantiaca “Just Peachy” also attracts nature’s winged jewels with long, graceful flowering spikes covered with an eye-catching combination of soft pink and peach-colored flowers. With its designer colors, “Just Peachy” looks great when planted with blue and pastel colors. Grows in zones 6-10.
• Salvia greggii “Wild Thing,” also known as “Wild Thing” Autumn Sage, is a vigorous, fast-growing plant with stunning coral-pink flowers. Its ability to survive the cold, damp winters of the Midwest is a real plus, as it extends the range of a traditionally Southwestern plant to much of the U.S. “Wild Thing” in a garden becomes an instant favorite among hummingbirds. Grows in zones 5-9.
