On Friday, March 30, RAAC and the Curriculum Enrichment Committee will be hosting the performance of “One Man Moby Dick” by New York Dancer and Performance Artist Carlo Adinolfi at 8 p.m. in the Rappahannock County High School Auditorium.
Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door. There will be a discussion following the show.
This compelling one-man show was written, choreographed, designed, and constructed by Adinolfi. It is a work of elemental lyricism where time and space are altered to create a floating, suspended world. Miniature ships, boats and schools of whales glide across the floor, a man’s body becomes a huge sailing canvas, giving the stage the breadth and volume of an ocean. The stage is inhabited by an affable guide who gently shares his passionate love for Melville’s story as part host, part villain, part boy and part hero.
Adinolfi’s piece will be featured in a story in the New Yorker this summer to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Melville’s monumental contribution to American literature.
