A: “I suggest watering your vegetable garden at least an inch every week. Definitely water it in dry weather if you can. It is not absolutely necessary, but I recommend it.”

A: “Put big plants in rows, small plants in beds.”
Q: Should you start vegetables in pots, or in the ground?
A: “Tomatoes, peppers and broccoli in pots inside; everything else can be planted in the ground once it’s warm enough.”
Q: Any other advice for first-time gardeners?
A: “Make sure you are going to be home when they’re ready to pick, or ask a neighbor or friend to pick them for you. Otherwise, the vegetables you worked so hard to plant will rot before you can eat them.”
