Although hardly considered “nature,” Burrell illustrated his point with a photo of checkerboard farm fields from an airplane. The yellow rapeseed fields seemed to pop up, while the blue flax squares receded.
Another color lesson: cool colors such as blue, purple and green tend to look far away, while warm, fiery colors look closer.
